RedNote and Social Media Marketing in Mount Waverley
RedNote plus bilingual Instagram for Mount Waverley, where 21.3% speak Mandarin or Cantonese at home and 47.0% speak only English (ABS 2021). From A$469/month.
Mount Waverley is about 7 km south of our Box Hill office in a straight line, and it is the most mixed of the five suburbs we cover. A large Chinese-speaking community lives alongside a bigger English-speaking one and a Greek-speaking community. That changes what a local business should do.

Source: ABS, 2021 Census QuickStats, Mount Waverley (suburbs and localities); Victoria figures from the same table. Percentages are shares of all residents. Ancestry allows up to two answers per person, so ancestries add up to more than 100%. The Census counts where people live, not who visits.
Two languages, in roughly equal measure
About one in five residents (21.3%, Mandarin and Cantonese added together) speaks a Chinese language at home. A little under half (47.0%) speaks only English, against 67.2% across Victoria. Greek (4.8%) is the next most common language at home after Mandarin.
The practical answer is not to choose. A restaurant, clinic or tutor in Mount Waverley usually has English-speaking regulars and Chinese-speaking customers who never see its English posts. We cover both: Instagram in bilingual posts, and RedNote written natively in Chinese, so each group meets the business where it already looks.
A suburb of neighbours
Most homes here are separate houses (68.6% of occupied dwellings) and just over half of families are couples with children. The suburb's centre is the village around Mount Waverley station on the Glen Waverley line, with more shops along Blackburn Road at Pinewood.
That is a pattern of local services chosen by recommendation: dentists, physios, hairdressers, tutoring, cafes. People ask neighbours and then check online. For these businesses the useful discipline is the one in our Terra Early Learning case study: write for a catchment small enough to name, not for "Melbourne" in general. Terra's RedNote account is built around Balwyn, Camberwell, Kew and Box Hill, and the content answers the questions parents ask before they book (case study). In Mount Waverley the named catchment might be Mount Waverley, Glen Waverley and Burwood.
How a Mount Waverley business might start
Start with whichever audience you are missing. If your customers are mostly English-speaking, a RedNote account from A$469/month (10 original notes a month) adds the Chinese-speaking side. If you are already on RedNote, Instagram management at A$699/month covers 10 bilingual posts. Creator visits are A$299 for 5 creators, with you providing the experience.
